Speaker: Radoslaw Dudzinski –Vice-president for Strategy PGNiG SA - Polish Oil and Gas Company
The LNG market is the part of the world gas market which is currently experiencing the most dynamic development. LNG exports grew by 58% between 2001 and 2007. The gas crisis of January 2009 heated up the discussion on security of gas supplies and the need for a variety of SoS measures. Diversification of supply routes has been an element of the Polish energy security strategy. One of the solutions is the LNG Terminal on the Baltic Sea Coast, in Świnoujście. The start up of the LNG Terminal is planned for 2014. The investment is also listed in the EU Recovery Plan with 150m EURO of possible co-financing.
Our speaker will raise the following questions:
- Is the Baltic sea coast an appropriate location for the LNG Terminal and why?
- Will the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście contribute to development of the gas market in the Baltic Sea region?
- Will the LNG Terminal in Świnoujście contribute to development of the European gas market?
- Is the LNG Terminal the right way to diversify sources of supply to Poland and to the region?
