Rural areas constitute 91% of the EU’s territory and are home to 56% of its citizens. As the EU looks to diversify its energy portfolio, have policy-makers adequately considered the security challenges faced by citizens who are relying on off-mains domestic energy sources?

Our speaker highlighted the contribution of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to the current energy challenges. As a low carbon, low polluting fossil fuel, LPG can also help the European Union meet its climate change goals, an important asset with the UNFCCC Copenhagen Conference in sight.

LPG already responds to the energy demands of more than 120 million European citizens, and that number is rising. SHV Gas would like to encourage an open debate on local and rural energy solutions.
