Dinner debate in Brussels

Chaired by Jerzy Buzek MEP, President of the European Energy Forum

Speakers:

Mr Piotr Woźniak, President of PGNiG SA

Mr Stefan Moser, Head of Unit Security of Supply – DG Energy, European Commission

As of September, Nord Stream 2 pipeline is under construction in the Finnish and German waters. Construction is underway despite being challenged by the environmental NGOs and reservations being voiced against the investment and the permitting process itself: the failure to obtain permits from Danish authorities; no route decided in the Danish waters; and the second variant proposed by the NS2 AG being harmful for the environment.

How to achieve a real diversification for the whole EU?

Can a robust and united EU approach to Nord Stream 2 and its incompatibility with the Energy Union goals be achieved?

How to accelerate work in the Council on the gas directive revision that was approved in Parliament?

Mr. Piotr Woźniak CEO of PGNiG S.A., the largest natural gas producer and supplier in Poland, explained why Nord Stream 2 would threaten the country and the EU and wishes to touch upon and discuss those important questions with you.

We look forward to a fruitful debate!
