Energising Waste
Speaker: Dr Ella Stengler, Managing Director CEWEP
Ella Stengler In anticipation of the Commission’s Communication on the Waste and the Resources Strategy, leading to a proposal to amend the Waste Framework Directive, in particular regarding the definition of energy recovery, CEWEP would like to introduce the Waste-to-Energy industry.
Waste-to-Energy (WtE) is the process of generating energy by thermally treating household and other waste.
WtE plants play an important role both as heat and electricity producers as well as for sustainable waste management.
Sophisticated filtering devices minimise the emissions into the atmosphere by blocking the pollutants, originating from the waste, such as heavy metals.
