The 2003 World Energy Outlook: The Investment Challenge

The IEA has just finalized its 2003 World Energy Investment Outlook (WEIO).

This unprecedented work focuses on the investment requirements for the energy sector looking forward to 2030.

Given environmental concerns and the impact of deregulation in many energy markets, the investment challenge will be different from one world region to another one and perhaps greater in developing countries.  

M. Mandil gave us a general overview of the WEIO and particularly underlined the issues that governments should consider when formulating energy investment policy.
