Speaker: Mr. Joosten, chairman of GTE

Mr Joosten, after having recalled the main differences between gas and electricity markets and GTE’s achievements to-date, introduced GTE’s objectives for the future, including actions following the Madrid RegulatoryForum held in February 2002:

• monitoring of Guidelines for Good Practice;
• further development of inter-operability, notably through kick-off contributions to EASEE-gas (European Association for Streamlining Energy Exchanges-gas);
• develop views on Security of Supply.

He also gave comments on the proposed gas Directive to be submitted to the Energy / Industry Council scheduled for 6-7 June and to the European Parliament.
