In European societies today, the convenient, affordable, and versatile mobility of people and goods is a basic need. European policymakers aim to maintain and improve Europe’s transport networks, while reducing transport-related emissions in an effective manner. As the European Commission has now published its strategy for low-emission mobility, how can it ensure EU’s future emissions reduction goals are reached while providing the mobility Europeans need for a secure economic future?

Khurram Gaba, Policy Planning Executive at ExxonMobil, described key principles to underpin a future transport policy and proposed policy options to achieve transport emission reduction goals at minimal cost to society, while maintaining the mobility of people and goods in Europe.
