The European Energy Forum is pleased to invite you to this energy-debate, co-hosted by its Associate Members European Aluminium, Finnish Energy and WindEurope, on how Europe can secure competitive electricity prices and costs, with insights from the aluminium sector and the Nordic energy model.

Drawing on Finland’s notably lower wholesale electricity prices, speakers will discuss the implications of renewable-based electrification for industrial power costs. They will explore how these costs impact the aluminium value chain – one of the most energy-intensive and electrified industries in Europe. WindEurope will contribute by outlining how a renewables-based energy system can reduce exposure to fossil fuel price volatility and deliver stable and competitive electricity costs for industry.

Building on this, they will discuss initiatives like the Electrification Action Plan and their potential role in addressing costs and safeguarding Europe’s critical industries in the context of the green, digital, and defence transitions. They will also address the role of the Competitiveness Fund and the wider negotiations on the next Multiannual Financial Framework in supporting large-scale industrial electrification, including through de-risking investments and accelerating the deployment of renewable-based power solutions.
