Speakers:
– Karina Tsurkan, Member of the Management Board JSC “INTER RAO UES”, Head of the Trading Unit;
– Maxim  Kozlov,  Director,  Department of special projects JSC “INTER RAO UES”.

The electricity and capacity market, started in 2008, was a new experience in energy sector for the Russian Federation. During the elaboration of market rules energy sector specialists were investigating different models of electricity market in other countries, trying to get the best practice and trying to adopt such practice to the Russian energy sector realities, while at the same time trying to reach highest efficiency, market based solutions and highest transparency in methodology. After some time of operation experience, certain changes have been introduced to the initial rules.

-What do we know about this market?
– How does it work and can we get some positive experience?
Mrs Karina Tsurkan will explain how electricity and capacity market of Russian Federation works and answer participants questions.

What about the development of the energy sector of the Russian Federation in the Baltic Sea Region, beside the borders of EU? We heard about plans of generation constructions and possible grid interconnection projects with the EU states in this region. Looking at them from the regional perspective, we can find solutions for problems in the EU related to security of supply, necessary investments into grid development, capacity reservation and other issues related to RES development.

The presentation by Mr Maxim Kozlov will give us a possibility to be better informed about those issues.
