Dinner debate in Strasbourg

Speakers:

Chris Beddoes, EUROPIA vice-secretary general

Alessandro Bartelloni, executive in charge of FQD, EUROPIA

The possible adoption of different default values for fuels as a function of their specific feedstock of origin is raising serious concerns.EUROPIA, the European Oil Industry Association, would like to bring to the attention of the audience that the EU discrimination of individual crudes and feedstocks would just cause their reallocation to other markets, with no benefits for the global environment.

They will discuss the consequences to the EU as regards:

– security of EU supply;

– cost of crudes in EU;

– competitiveness of the EU refining industry vs. other regions in the world;

– administrative burden to Member States and Fuel Suppliers.

In EUROPIA’s opinion, alternative solutions exist to comply with the Fuel Quality Directive environmental targets, with no negative consequences for Europe.
