Today, oil represents 40 % of the world primary energy consumption, and the consensus among forecasters is that they do not expect this share to change significantly in the next 20 to 30 years.

Today also, 30 % of the world oil production comes from the Middle East and 40 % from members of OPEC, shares that will probably increase in the coming years.

Such a concentration brings up the question of oil supply security.
• What is the level of the risk represented by the present geopolitical situation ?
• How could this risk evolve in the short and long term ?
• To reduce this risk, more than one approach can be taken. This being said, any appropriate solution will necessarily address political, legal as well as technological issues.
