Enel presented its intelligent metering system, the most advanced technology for a quick and efficient way of supporting demand side management. This new system is able to improve both energy efficiency and security of supply.

Consumers in Italy are today active market players, enabled by a large variety of tailored tariffs and a variety of benefits that will be illustrated, such as: energy savings for customers and lower prices, remote contract management (activation/deactivation, power changes, etc), simplified supplier switching, peak shaving and better management of the network and market price signal to drive home consumption. Enel contributes actively to the EU Technology Platform on Smart Energy Grids.
