25Nov
2002

Speaker: Mr. Harald Noske, Director for production, Stadtwerke Hannover.

The event, which took place in the context of the ongoing negotiations in the European Parliament and the Council about the CHP Directive, gathered around 80 participants: members of the European Parliament representatives from the European Commission, the permanent representations and from the energy industry.

Attendees were invited to take part in the debate on all related questions. The European Commission and the Danish Presidency of the Council presented their views.

The in-depth discussion in presence of the Parliament’s rapporteur, MEP Norbert Glante, did not only allow to clarify a number of frequently asked questions about CHP in general, but also highlighted the need for clear-cut and harmonised rules to separate CHP electricity from condensing electricity which might be produced in the same plant.

Mr. Noske who has taken an active part in designing the German certification system for CHP electricity highlighted the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of CHP electricity, underlying the “Euroheat & Power Manual for Calculating CHP Electricity”.
