What role does trading have in creating an open and competitive European Energy Market ?

Stefan Judisch, gave a brief introduction to the key function that Energy Trading has in creating a pan-European, open and competitive energy market. He started off with a description of the role of trading and traders in energy markets. He then addressed all the major issues on the energy agenda such as energy prices, cross-border capacity, security of supply, LNG and globalization of gas prices. Finally, Stefan Judisch put energy trading in a legislative and regulatory context and suggest initiatives that would encourage further market opening. He also identified activities which – to the contrary – may hamper further market liberalization.
